The GES program focuses on providing basic education, including pre-school, primary school (classes 1-6), and junior high school (forms 1-3), which is compulsory for all Ghanaian children. The curriculum aims to deliver inclusive and equitable quality formal education, ensuring it is relevant to the nation's manpower needs. The curriculum provides flexible learning pathways for diverse learners, including those with special needs or gifted abilities
The curriculum highlights interactive teaching methods and assessments to promote higher-order thinking skills such as understanding, application, analysis, and creation. It integrates cross-cutting themes, 21st-century skills, literacy, mathematics, social-emotional learning, and gender equality into the learning process. The curriculum promotes practical education, skill acquisition, and Ghanaian values. It also aims to prepare learners to contribute meaningfully to the global knowledge economy.
